Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia, the youngest of five children. Both a stage and film actor, Jackman is best known for playing Wolverine in X-Men and its sequels, and his Tony Award winning performance in The Boy from Oz.

His other works within the United States include Swordfish (2001), Van Helsing (2004) and Kate & Leopold (2001), for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In 2005 he won an Emmy for hosting the Tony awards.

1999 he receives "Australian Star of the Year" at the "Australian Movie Convention.

2001 - "Saturn Award" - Best Actor for the role in X-Men (2000).
2002 he was nominated for "The Golden Globe" with the reward Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy in Kate & Leopold (2001).
2004 he was nominated for "UK Empire Awards" for the role in X2 (2003)
2005 wins a "Primetime Emmy" for The 58th Annual Tony Awards.
In the next year (2006) he is again nominated for the same show but he didn't manage to win win the prize.

2006. Hugh Jackman is nominated for "Teen Choice Award" twice, for the role in "X-Men - The Last Stand".

Jackman starred in the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", released on May 1st 2009.
An action drama, "Drive", starring Jackman, is currently in production, and is scheduled to be released in 2009.
Jackman is also planned to star in a remake of "Carouser", scheduled to be released in 2010, in which he will play Billy Bigelow.
Now, Hugh is filming for the animated movie: Guardians of Ga'Hoole ( a movie that will be released in 2010).
