One word OUTSTANDING! Chris Cooper delivers a powerful and very believable performance.Ryan Phillippe did an amazing job as well I think this is the defining movie that will make Hollywood wake up and now start taking him seriously as an actor and not look at him any longer as the young 'Cruel Intentions' kid. This one is a do not miss!!!
63
The Bridge (2006,  R)
The Bridge
Raw,gritty and very REAL.No joke folks have the tissues ready male or female.Take the journey to San Francisco and find out why this is the last destination in so many lives every year. This film captures 24 deaths as they happened in 2004 and the links to these people on The bridge as they took there 4 second fall. This is filmed very well really neat cinematography, but the emotional roller coaster and the twisty sick feeling in your stomach the whole time doesn't go away.Fair warning its not the typical popcorn fun kind of movie ,but if you can handle the subject matter, the in your face facts will astound you.Let me know what you think.
64
We Are Marshall (2006,  PG)
We Are Marshall
First of all I want to say Hands down this is the best Football movie I have ever seen.I think we need more stars than 5 cause I dam sure wanted to rate this higher.Friends listen to me,Make this movie a top priority.A true story of a school that lost its team, and a town that lost their hope until one day 1 man stepped up to a brutal challenge of trying to change that town.Matthew McConaughey delivers a Stellar performance as coach Jack Lengyel,he moved his family into the town in the middle of the worst pain and devastation they had ever known, and proved to them as long as you dream, and never give up you can change a team and a town.I kid you not,Man or Woman this movie WILL make you cry! And you will hold your breath until the final moments of this tremendous film, and finally it will make you want to jump out of your seat and with a thunderous Roar Scream "We Are Marshall!"SEE THIS MOVIE ASAP!!

Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter)
OK so here I go getting sucked into yet another amazing Martial arts flick.I had so many of my great Flix friends recommend this movie to me after my Ong Bak Frenzy last week.I am so glad I listened to you guys.I was amazed this was a true story as well. The ending was verrrry sad.But amazing story, beautiful cinematography, and some awesome fight scenes that I wanted to keep rewinding and watching over and over.SO please now that I have joined this whole kung fu craziness please keep your recommendations coming.I really enjoyed it.I do think I liked Onk Bak a little more because the action was non-stop and I swear Tony Jaa can do things with his body that don't seem human, but EXCELLENT.If you have not seen this ,you should =)

The Crucible (1996,  PG-13)
The Crucible
This movie is pretty incredible.Yet another movie that Daniel Day Lewis will just blow you away.He is an amazingly Powerful actor with such a calm demeanor on the surface. He puts so much passion into his roles,I don't know of too many actors that are of his caliber.Winona Ryeder also did a really good job in this as well.I didn't know the whole story behind the Salem witch trials before this.It is absolutely absurd that a handful af adolescent girls with nothing better to do than be bitchy and spiteful could carry so many innocent townspeople to their deaths.Anyways if you have not seen this you really REALLY should,Very worth the watch!

Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996,  Unrated)
Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
This came from a recommendation (Thanks Blake) ,I had put it off for a few weeks because of the subject matter. It is excruciatingly hard to watch.I mean these 3 little 8 year old buys died. Not only did they die they were brutally tortured, mutilated, raped ,bludgeoned, and drowned,Yeah all while being hogtied. This movie made me ill as a mother.Made me disgusted the way these redneck ass hillbilly, Mutherfuckers treated this case!Um "Lost the evidence'????WHAT????? Oh Lord ,My heart goes out to the parents of these 3 little boys,What they had to see and hear in that courtroom would haunt me forever in my dreams.I really want to watch part 2 of this now.The ending which I won't give away even though this movie has been out forever is soooo unsettled. There is a HUGE curveball thats thrown into the whole mix towards the end that leaves me really wondering did these 3 boys do this. Were they capable of pulling off all that had to be planned and done.Or were they just ,normal teens, talkin trash, dressing different, and by golly you can't like in the dam Bible belt and believe in anything other than God or even think it or you will surely burn in Satan's Lap (rolls eyes).Anyway please chat back with me if you have seen this one,I would love to gear the thoughts of others.Blake you first buddy.=)

Into the Wild (2007,  R)
Into the Wild
Christopher McCandless: [written into book] Happiness only real when shared.

(In and of itself,How powerful and profound is that?)This is movie was so much more than I expected.A real journey,a breaking free from everything.Emile Hirsch has a whole new respect in my book, any actor thats willing to drop alot of weight for films is pretty dedicated.I also read some other interesting things on IMDB.Anyway this is a very emotionally driven movie. It was so sad at points with his family that was left behind,so utterly broken from his 'disapperance'.Only his sister really understood him.He met some unconventional characters along the way,he had fun,he had an amazing adventure and this man saw things in this world most of us will never ever, even get close to.He found the beauty in the simplicity of just being. This is a beautiful but tragic true story this is highly recommended =)

The Business of Being Born (2008,  Unrated)
The Business of Being Born
A documentary with an eye opening look of the cash crop that should have NEVER been. This film shows that although we have moved leaps and bounds from the unreal barbaric Labor and delivery rooms of the 20's and 30's advancing but maybe in the wrong direction. In the U.S. it is no longer about what is safe and best for Mom and baby, its about get em' in and get em' out.Like a factory, and how much drugs are pushed on laboring women (whether they want it or not) to help speed that process along.I was really shocked by alot that I saw. Also this movie shows that C-section births are now more than 1-3 births,If that is not a jaw dropper alone. It's now become the norm to completely remove the womanhood and natural process completely from the mother of the birth experience.Anyway its been 15 years since I have been in a delivery room, and lucky enough with both boys to never need a C-section.Ladies,If you are pregnant or already a mom you will appreciate this film that none other than Ricki Lake has put together, very well done. You might even need a few tissues,I guarantee, seeing all those sweet little newborns will take each and every one of you right back to the moment you first looked into the eyes of your little one.=)

An American Crime (2007,  R)
An American Crime
Ohhhh, boy Ok as a mother you WILL have a very hard time watching this. It's like basically your worse nightmare come true.I would have never left my kids with a perfect stranger to begin with, but it was a different time then,People were more trusting and Gertrude went to church and to the outsiders put off the "Oh poor me,I am broke, and I have too many kids, but I go to church and I am a good person"BULLSHIT mask! This movie is disturbing in ways that enrage me as a mother, that any woman could allow this to go on in her own home, and then let the whole dam neighborhood kids come in and beat the crap out of her,Oh hell no!This chick was totally off her rocker she should have never had custody of ANY of her children ever.Ellen Page is truly a remarkable actress for her age,and I think she should have been nominated for an Oscar for This movie a hell of a lot more than Juno. She was Incredible in this and that is an understatement. The fact that this is a true story will haunt me for a very long time.See it,Just be warned.

Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) (2007,  PG-13)
Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly)
This is literally the most gut wrenching movie I have ever sat through. It's very sad.You wonder how people find the strength to go on when something so horrific happens to them, especially in their early 40's.I was blown away this is a true story.I want to do a little more research on this "locked in syndrome",It's incredibly brave, most people I would think would try to find a way to commit suicide rather than live their whole lives like that. This man was so brave. He had such and understanding support system of nurses, family. It's sad but you find some happiness in it, the way he deals with things, the whole movie is narrated by his thoughts.I absolutely 110% recommend this treasure of a movie =)

Out of the Blue (Aramoana) (2007,  Unrated)
Out of the Blue (Aramoana)
I am giving this 4 stars and being kind about it.This movie was good, but it is so incredibly slow at times you will want to fall asleep. The only reason I hung in there was because it was a true story. Some beautiful scenery of New Zealand,But otherwise seriously this guy just got up and went nuts because the local back started charging fees for checks??Seriously??

In the Valley of Elah
Great movie,Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones both did an excellent job,Definitely worth watching!

Changeling (2008,  R)
Changeling
OUTSTANDING!!! This is Brilliant,Powerful and extremely well done in every aspect. This will most definitely make it into Oscar contention in many aspects.Jolie and Malkovich were a great Duo.This film will tear at the heart of any parent and anger you at times beyond belief. But as a mother ANY mother out there will totally get sucked into Jolie's character and what she went through.Absolutely incredible job by everyone on board with this.My hat's off to Mr. Clint Eastwood he does have another Million Dollar baby with this one.And to find out that this was a true story drives the dramatic impact of this film home even more.SEE IT SOON!!!!! =)

82
Defiance (2009,  R)

Daniel Craig,Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell make the best triple threat in this sad but mmving film about escaping the germans and being hunted like animals in the woods.Amazing film,Highly recommended!

The Longshots (2008,  PG)
The Longshots
Great football movie! I love football movies almost as much as my obsession with action films. This was another good one I adore the high school based on a true story ones the best I think. It's that whole batting to the death for the Underdog thing I have in my I guess.Anyway great movie great cast and Ice Cube plays a great character as and Uncle trying to turn his life around and teach his niece football and kind of re-live his glory days in the process.Recommending this one if you have not already seen it.=)
84
Hunger (2009,  Unrated)
Hunger
Steve McQueen directs one of the most haunting jaw dropping prison abuse movies I have ever seen.It centers around the man Bobby Sands which long story short goes on a hunger strike to show whats going on inside this prison.Very hard to watch at times and emotionally gut wrenching when you are watching this and you know its a true story,Just awful.Highly recommending this to everyone.
85
The Soloist (2009,  PG-13)
The Soloist
Slower than I thought this would be at times, however Robert Downey Jr.and Jamie Foxx pull off some amazing characters in this film.I would recommend checking it out.
