    2012 was an alright action/disaster movie the story could of been delivered better but they delivered the story much better than G.I Joe and Transformers 2.The story was nothing special but it had a little bit of story that should keep you entertained the majority of the time.Th...( read more)is film constantly had explosions which spoilt the film a bit because they concerntrated more on the explosions and the effects than they did with the storyline.The effects were done extremely well and the effects were pretty strong and this is where the movie gets its marks.It did have some sort of storyline that entertained me otherwise it wouldn't get the 3 stars.The acting could of been better but it was alright and I wouldn't consider in it being bad.
    Overall I would say this film is good but not the best action of this year and certainly not the worsed action film of this year.This film was pretty well delivered that should keep its audience entertained at some points.It didn't keep me entertained at all times I will admit that but it was worth watching and I wouldn't consider this film in being bad.

    Not as good as awe-inspiring as Armageddon or The Day After Tomorrow but still very entertaining. And I guess I shouldn't compare it to other disaster movies anyways.

    I went and I saw this movie....It was the bommmm....It is a very good movie...I would advise for everyone who saying it's a bad movie to shut up,and who haven't seen it to go and see it....It is veryyyyy goooooddddd!!!!!

    I have no doubt in my mind that Roland Emmerich directed this entire movie with a stonking great erection.

    His entire career (dedicated to the systematic persecution of landmarks) has been mere foreplay leading to this metaphorical (and literal) eruption of unrelenting, undiscr...( read more)iminating carnage. There is literally no way Emmerich can top the things he achieves in this ridiculous, idiotic movie short of detonating dynamite during the premiere and dropping the theater into sinkhole.

    Make no mistake, this is as stupid and preposterous as any Emmerich film has been, but unlike the interminable bore that is Day After Tomorrow, 2012 gleefully embraces it's tired old genre tropes and endeavors to just bombard you with destruction on a scale you've never seen before.

    The movie is almost unabashedly cruel, Emmerich squeezes in some sugary sentimentality towards the end but for the the majority of the runtime the movie takes great pride in horribly killing people, buildings and land mass.

    The visual effects realizing this carnage are highly effective and Emmerich stages his big set pieces with immense skill. Most of the set pieces are simply characters attempting to outrun a disaster of some kind, including earthquakes, a volcano producing the BIGGEST explosion in cinema, a tidal wave of ash, more earthquakes and tsunamis. It's a deluge of people being conveniently paced ahead of circumstance.

    Despite the escalating chaos, coherency is never sacrificed. This is one important facet that separates it from Michael Bay's gangrape of motion and bombast, Transformers 2. The other would be likeable characters, now they are by no means GOOD characters, they are two dimensional and only exist to serve a plot function or tug on heart strings but they are portrayed by a cast of respectable thesps, no Shia Lebeaufs or Megan Foxs to be found. Instead we're treated to an ensemble of great actors, who really should know better (the kind of thing I found myself wondering during the superior, but equally stupid, Armageddon).

    It bears repeating, 2012 IS dumb, and becomes increasingly predictable once you figure out how each set piece will play out but the film keeps on piling up on the scale and audacity as the film's plot shifts from disaster to a race against time and calamity to reach a top secret operation building giant boats in China for the richest people on the planet to fill up ? it's Noah's Capitalist Ark. And so we follow a failed writer, a modestly successful plastic surgeon, the woman they both love, her neglected children and a Russian millionaire (played by the magnificent Zlatko Buric, of the Pusher trilogy) and his entitled children and trophy girlfriend as they travel by air (the only thing in the eco-system not currently exploding) and attempt to get a free seat on the futuristic cruise liners.

    The movie is ludicrous and idiotic but marvelously packaged by a blockbuster filmmaker who knows what he's doing and plays to his moronic strengths like some idiot savant of mass destruction. It's by no means Independence Day, but it's a much needed do-over for the missed opportunities of The Day After Tomorrow.

    Another mass appeal outing from Hollywood with a lot of trite effects and overdone CGI. Pretty patchy storytelling but it's not incoherent. Watchable but cliche. Not even really brainless entertainment because mashing up old plotlines is not very entertaining. It's like watching ...( read more)a movie for the sake of watching a movie. But at least it ain't sleep inducing. I could sit through the whole show without feeling irritated or angry or too bored but that's the problem - mostly I just sat there feeling nothing much.

    This outstanding movie gets five stars from me. This movie is spectacular in every way. The graphics, the plot line, the characters, the actors-- everything. I just knew that John Cusack was going to be in this film. He's just so good in these movies. I can...( read more)'t imagine anyone else fitting into the role of Jackson Curtis but Cusack.

    The graphics were in unbelievably awesome. I loved every second of watching the intense "destruction of earth" scenes. Aah... nothing beats a good end-of-the-world movie.

    This was full of drama and INTENSE action. What made the film drmataic was that Jackson Curtis (Cusack) wanted to be with is kids but then the world started to fall apart.What chance does he have now? He has every chance in the world if he survives the destruction. Which he did. And all of them started a new life in January 27, 0001.

    I was sitted on my movie seat just waiting for the movie start and wondering: "When's Keanu Reeves gonna come out?" I was wrong. Cusack is like Reeves only he's not exaggerating things and he's a good actor. Job well done, John. You've made your way from 1408-- to 2012.
