like the texture and tone of this movie!

The movie felt like it was more a short film than a whole movie. It had a lot of plot holes. But, the plain terminator/matrix theme was a win for me.

'9' is an exceptional movie that has stepped out of the preverbeal darkness and has stolen my heart. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that if this movie was a women then, I would ask for its hand in marriage!

Set in a post apocalyptic world, shortly after the huma...( read more)n race has been destroyed, a tiny robotic creature comes to life and explores the world out side to discover that he is not alone. In fact, there are 8 more like him.
However, the machines that helped to destroy humanity still lay dorment around the world, and 9 holds the key to their secret.

After the credits finished rolling, I was left in awe. I was already convinced that this would be your typical CGI animation. Boy, was I wrong!
If I was asked to compare this to any other movies out there I would honestly have to say that this is like an animated cross between 'The Borrowers' & 'V For Vendetta' with a small hint of '1984'.

This movie is both passionate and exciting with a top notch cast to provide the voices of our little heroic characters. On more than one occasion, it is more than easy to feel a hell of a lot of empathy for them.
The atmosphere of the surrounding locations through out the movie have a huge World War II feel to them but, with a small hint of futuristic detail. This helps lend a dark feel to the movie, especially during it's more frightening adventure scenes. The animation its self is outstanding. All in all, I would go as far as to say that this comes close to have all the right ingredients to make the perfect animated movie. However, if you have seen the legendary 'Akira' then, you will understand that this movie can only come close to such an accomplishment.

Like I have said previously, I have fallen head over heels in love with this movie! I highly recommend and encourage every one to see it. To me it has a lot of different elements that should please most different kinds of movie fans. Seriously, give a try!

I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was the cutest thing. I loved all the character and the animation which makes up for the standard plot.

Visual muito legal, mas história recheada de muito clichęs.

Decent little animation, nothing special but watchable. The characters were a little bit samey and predictable (feisty female character that doesnt take any crap from anyone, anyone?) and it's all a little bit obvious but its nicely put together and the inconclusive ending made...( read more) a change from the norm.

When you watch this film, you can see that the people who made this had spent alot of time and hard work on this, the CGI is absolutely Brilliant, it is a real joy to watch.
  • November 27, 2009
The visual is outstanding but the plot has some serious problems. Nevertheless is from Tim Burton, you should see it!
  • November 26, 2009
This looks like a cross between The Matrix and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Creepy-assed animation. Looks intriguing, but might wait for the DVD.

While the story may seem familiar, classic even, the amount of creativity on display here is astounding.
  • November 25, 2009
good concept based on short, the cast is good. the ending felt anti-climatic after all the action and incomplete story.

    REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS!!!!

Disappointed in the animation at times, but pretty good.

A very dark but enjoyable animated movie about a group of puppets trying to survive in a post apocalyptic wasteland whilst being hunted doen by giant robotic beasts! It's quite scary at times and there are some pretty sad moments. Not sure if children would appreciate it but ad...( read more)ults should do. It looks brilliant. The ending is a slight let down but it was a good watch still.

Refreshing characters, yet nothing new to the story. It's enjoyable.

They sure do know how to make dead bodies look real like it was filmed in real life that's for sure, I like it. The story was great, I liked the movie but I guess I was in the wrong movie theater were a kid screaming was right in front of me and a baby crying right behind me with...( read more) a teenage mother. Other wise, I would have put 5 stars.

As a film aimed for adults, it's flawed. The storyline has a lot of interesting potential, but it's plotting is very straight forward, too straight forward actually. The film only grabs the most necessary details, but this is a problem as the film goes on, as it makes some safe t...( read more)urns which could've had a lot more emotional pull if risks were taken.

Basically, the film is physically fit, but not very muscular.

i think its a great movie!!****

I had hight expectations to this movie. Probably too high, without knowing anything about it. So I was disappointed. But not because it is a bad movie, but because it was more symbolic and less available than I prefer.

Pinocchio meets Terminator in this well-animated, but rather mediocre CGI flick. You'd think a movie produced by a creative genius like Tim Burton would be really amazing, but it seems his contribution to this has been meagre in reality. An advertisting trick, to lure more people...( read more) into watching it. Because altough you can sense his influence visually, the script sadly leaves a lot to desire. The dialogue is bland and the characters pretty soulless (which is ironic indeed, as they're supposed to be an anti-thesis to the robots, with their human values and emotions). Consequently, it failed to engage me. Fairly entertaining on the whole, but ultimately quite forgettable.

Amazing animation, somewhat interesting story but they could have done more. Seemed more like a video game. Worth checking out on DVD
  • November 22, 2009
"9" is an ambitious film with extraordinary visuals that unfortunately just doesn't quite gel into a cohesive whole. The plot and characters are extremely thin and forgettable, but as a visual feast "9" excels. On that one strength alone, the film works just enough to be recommen...( read more)ded.

A visually charged meditation on religion, science, war, technology, and faith (as in faith in others and such). It's short, moves quickly, and the fact that sheer innocence and curiousity sets off the main plot is interesting. It's also telling that one of the major sequences he...( read more)re ends with a chruch burning down. This movie reminds me alot of The Golden Compass: Both films have plenty to say about blindly following religion, and how technology plays a role in the downfall of such, but here, there's more to it. Acker seems to believe that organized religion is crap, but belief in something, and trying to do the greater good is admirable. And that is where the problem comes in. His message gets muddled, and is not not clear. There's little plot, and the ending fight is a let down. Also, worst score in any movie all year.

although other animation may have been previous Bekmambetov and Burton had delivered an incredibly mastered CG film not to be discredited for it's behind the scenes talent

9 pieces of one's soul to save humanity. A simple concept and easy to grasp. Within the first 10 minutes the characters are introduced and the action starts. At first i thought it might be too short but no it's just right. A fast paced animation movie with the magic and why not e...( read more)ven suspense of Shane Acker, Tim Burton and Pamela Pettler (whoever she is). Great voices that bring to life this raggy shaggy mini puppets that make a difference in this post-apocaliptic world. The cgi is outstanding, and this whole thing pretty good written, not to mention it's one hell of an artistic movie but it lacks more.....something i dunno. Point is it's not one to be remembered by, but deffinitely worth the watch.

Looks really good. Very short and narrow.
  • November 18, 2009
    very good dark animation.
  • November 17, 2009
It was a pretty decent movie, not that crazy about it but it was okay..
I was actually expecting more from this movie since Tim Burton is involved in this movie...
  • November 17, 2009
It's a little dull throughout, but I give it points for being original in concept.
The characters are awkwardly adorable too.

Interesting way of saying: "What makes us human is our souls."
Has a nice touch when is comes to creativity and style.
  • November 15, 2009
Post-apocalyptic animated fairy-tale with a whole bag of Tim Burton-ness. Charming characters and cool monsters. Perfect voice actors. Nothing bad to say about this one as long as you know its a fairy-tale.
  • November 15, 2009
Pretty darn good. Had elements that could be found in Burton movies, post-apocolyptic action flicks, and stories of heroism. Awesome alround... very few offsetting segments. Enjoyable and visually stimulating.
  • November 14, 2009
Average flick with little emotional engagement inspired from me. Brilliant premise, but ultimately a largely dull and flat cartoon that takes itself very seriously. Unremarkable. Kept the kids happy.
  • November 13, 2009
Not as great as I thought it would be. I think 9 had a lot of potential to be an awesome movie, but the story seemed lacking. The details were rich, and the acting was good. 9 is pretty and extremely creative, but without the story, the movie falls short.
  • November 13, 2009
great animation, great idea. has that little bit of imagination and magic to it.
