So, initially I was watching and thinking, "Hmm, is this Final Fantasy XXXVII?" It seemed so cheesy and the CGI just made everything look so wooden.
As the film moved on though it took life and Gaiman's writing overcame the shortcomings of what they were attempting with the com...( read more) -

Beowulf: I am ripper, terror, slasher, gouger. I am teeth in the darkness! The talons in the night! My name is strength! And lust! And power! I AM BEOWULF!
The other ancient epic movie of 2007, from fantastical adventure guru director Robert Zemeckis.
This is the old story,...( read more) -

It is an interesting way to see the actors. It looks like they filmed them, then animated it somehow. It would have been great to see it in 3D instead of on TV as I did. I presume this movie follows the poem, but I haven't read it. As an adventure story of the mighty Beowulf,...( read more)

Strange one, I have never heard of the Beowulf legend and at first found this weird. If you dont know the legend it will seem dumb really. It starts out kinda confusing and not really interesting, too dark, has a kinda Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feel to it haha the animation lo...( read more)

Greatest CGI book to film of it's year. The graphics and voice acting left me in total awe the entire film, I just had to go out and get the DVD. There were times it was so well detailed that I forgot it was CGI. D&D and Mythology lovers must see type of film. Action, Magic, ...( read more)

Si vous vous demandez lequels des Beowulf à regarder, je vous conseille celui-là, mais j'aime pas ça pareil!!!
Critic Reviews
It's imaginative, and it has the barreling forward motion and lurching thrills of a Dark Ages theme park, even when it's exercising battle-worn clichés. full review
It's the Beowulf saga once again, and the movie becomes tiresome and trivial -- well done within the narrow limits of its aspiration but not worth the inflated effort. full review
As envisioned by director Robert Zemeckis, Beowulf is a sight to behold: The landscape and visuals are powerfully sweeping, the action sequences exhilarating and kinetic. full review
Beowulf is ambitious, overbearing and hollow; it goes overboard to impress, yet it never feels truly inventive or imaginative. full review
The adaptation replaces the two-dimensional characters of the epic poem with more human, nuanced individuals. full review
Am I the only one who suspects that the intention of director Robert Zemeckis and writers Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary was satirical? full review
Zemeckis, who blazed trails mixing live-action with animation in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, blazes not even a footpath here. full review
Zemeckis springs so many pow 3-D surprises you'll think Beowulf is your own private fun house. full review
The bloodiest 12A (UK) rating in memory. full review

March 16, 2008I am wondering whether or not the way the movie ended whether or not there could be another sequel? Like discovering his mistress was pregnant with his son.

December 28, 2007It's a pretty bad movie. But still fun, since it's finally an "adult" 3D film. The visuals though aren't that great, about 5 seconds looked really awesome, other than that it was an ok cgi film. Besides that the score by Alan Silvestri is awesome and the movie title song is the best since years. Finally a really great old school Hollywood song.

December 11, 2007This movie wasn't my favourite for the year, but it was one of the more unusual. The beginning of the film was slow, but I felt it finished on a high, with the dragon scene. I must also give it thumbs up for using most of the actors real appearences in CGI, which was also well done.
