For those of you who like car chases/stunts then this will definitely be up your street, an interesting concept of a story which is inspired by the book ?Death Race 2000? and the original film with the same name.
High Action, in a typically Hollywood fashion, slight reminders ...( read more) -

An ex racing car driver is framed for the murder of his wife to impersonate the dead star of a gladiatorial game show of the near future. His name was Frankenstein, which is ironic, because this is a cinematic pick'n'mix of many cult sci-fi movies. It has the story of The Running...( read more)

Entertaining! Exactly what it says it will be. No guessing games or intricate plots. Just cars, guns, and death. Oh and Statham without his shirt...mmmm.

Action/Scifi/Thriller with 'B' movie written all over it, but in the hands of Paul W.S. Anderson becomes 'A' list material. Death Race offers a believable plot, fast action, and characters you can sink your teeth into. With very little CGI, the racing, accidents, and explosion...( read more)

"You wanted a monster? Well, you've got one."
Tough leading man? Check. Violence? Check. Blazing action? Check. Hot girl? Check. Mindless? Very much so. Death Race comes at you turbo charged and ridiculous, but ends up being surprisingly enjoyable.
Critic Reviews
Death Race is cartoonishly brutal and pleasantly disreputable. full review
Like first love -- or maybe just a crowbar to the Adam's apple -- Death Race works fast and hits hard. A prison flick and a car chase movie at the same time? I am so there. full review
Car-crash porn for the modern audience. full review
Once upon a time, car chases were a highlight of any serious action movie (come back, George Miller!); here they are its entire substance... full review
It is an assault on all the senses, including common. Walking out, I had the impression I had just seen the video game and was still waiting for the movie. full review
A serviceable, forgettable genre film marked by leaden performances, even more leaden dialogue, a few sterlingly gruesome images, and a supremely campy performance from Joan Allen. full review

September 1, 2008I saw this movie today, it was better then I thought it was going to be. The action was great, Jason Statham and his abs were awsome, I plan on watching it at least ten more times before buying it. It was complete action for those of us who like a good action movie, good looking guy's, fast cars, and jason kicks ass more.
