It's good to see Kate and Matthew back together. They are a divorced couple who wound up together to look for lost treasure before the baddies get hold of it. Matthew gets beaten up a lot. It reminds me of 'The Mexican' (hopeless male and exasperated female). Good cast. Average p...( read more)

You might wonder why I watched this film after giving 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' such a bad review!? Well, I was on a plane and it was either this or listening to screaming children. This film is a bit better than listening to screaming children.

Film léger, avec quelques moments d'humour. On se laisse emporter par la beauté des paysages, la vie sur la mer, l'océan, et la vie sous-marine. Par contre, l'histoire derrière la chasse au trésor est par très difficile à suivre.

Quite possibly one of the most boring movies I've ever attempted to watch.
I'm not sure who thought this movie was a good idea, but it seems to be just a bunch of random beauty shots of Key West intertwined with scenes of people sitting around and talking on boats....
No plot.....( read more) -

This is a cinematic achievment....it takes beautiful people, a beautiful place and big dollar budget...and produces a dud with it. That's not easy to do, because these are very beautiful people in very beatiful places. What's more fun that a treasure hunt? If your talking abou...( read more)

They mastered the whole film into a typical risky search of gold and they have shown Mathew as the fool who search for the treasure lost on Spanish coast and they taken the screenplay in a fun way as it was quiet entertaining... I liked the way the divorce and they came joined ag...( read more)

Not too bad.. it seems someone wanted to make an "Indiana Jones Romantic Comedy" and came up with this. I prefer the movie "Six Days and Seven Nights" with Harrison Ford to aim towards the "Indiana Romantic Comedy" (because you have Ford it it at least).
Critic Reviews
This movie feels very generic and very, very long; after it's over, you might need a little sunscreen for your brain. full review
So intricate, so convoluted and so full of various character names that it becomes impossible to follow. full review
There are several dazzlingly pretty but profoundly dumb characters in Fool's Gold, characteristics they share with the film itself. full review
A semi-adventure and even less of a romantic comedy, only pretends to whip up excitement. full review
You might even forget you're watching a movie and think you're having flashbacks to Us Weekly. full review
It's so riddled with complications and exposition (a queen's dowry, hurricanes, libraries in Spain) you wish the audience had just been handed an appendix and footnotes that covered the boring parts. full review
In Fool's Gold Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, as golden as a pair of rotisserie chickens, squabble and cavort in a tropical paradise.
It's early in the year, but I defy any 2008 comedy to be as stupid, slack and sexless as Fool's Gold. And I'm counting Paris Hilton's appalling The Hottie and the Nottie, which is marginally better. full review
A trifling slice of winter season counter-programming. full review

September 5, 2008Felt like this movie was 3hrs long. No break from the constant EPIC sounding movie music soundtrack was very tiring, storyline was ok, Inspires me to book a tropical vacation & go swimming, other than that... so/so. Over-hyped. ;-)

July 13, 2008Well I thought the beggining was extremely boring, the daughter of the rich dude was VERY annoying and the last 30mins were very good...I did have some laughs but I thought I could've been better...they r a gr8 couple, I think the story line should've been more interesting...
