Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman

Now that Greg Focker is "in" with his soon-to-be in-laws, Jack and Dina Byrnes, it looks like smooth sailing for him and his fiancée, Pam. But that's before Pam's parents meet Greg's parents, Bernie a...( read more  read more... )nd Roz Focker. The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but here goes: Barbra Streisand is the best part of this movie. Maybe it's been too long since I saw the original (in theatres all those years ago), but I found this to be a formulaic sequel that's just barely enjoyable. Dustin Hoffman is gre...( read more)at, but the "callback" jokes are more lazy than nostalgic and the film overall disappoints. Either that or bad movies were a lot funnier when I was in high school, could go either way...

The introduction of Hoffman and Streisand just about save this fairly poor sequel.

A step to far here, didn't need it really. The first was very funny but this is too forced. De Niro and Stiller are still good but Hoffman and Streisand are pretty lame and the jokes become slightly childish and cliche. Not terrible but nothing special.

The sequel to Meet the Parents. Ben gets into more bother with Robert when they visit Ben's parents and there's a new addition to the family. Robert is brilliant as the ex CIA agent. Dustin and Barbra are very funny as well.

For audiences that loved Meet the Parents, the movie is a welcome chance to revisit funny and familiar characters. full review

Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail

There is some fun in watching the veterans mix it up -- De Niro, who looks like he wants to fade into the scenery, Streisand, who tries to eat it -- but nothing is well developed here. full review

Nick Schager, Slant Magazine

Playing up the socio-religious rifts of the first film, the sequel reflects the country's current political schisms. full review

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

The movie is pleasant enough, but never quite reaches critical mass as a comedy. full review

Colin Covert, The Minneapolis Star Tribune

A weary retread without a fraction of the inventiveness that sparked the original. full review

Amy Biancolli, Houston Chronicle

Director Jay Roach gives the film no visual distinction whatsoever but packs on the jokes with tireless bustle. full review

David Edelstein, Slate

From the start the jokes are on a different level than the last one: coarse, aggressive, and poorly timed by director Jay Roach. full review

I would give it half a star lol, I thought it was terrible compared to Meet The Parents, I liked Gaylords parents but I think it went to far, He tried to make it funny but it just made it stupid. I thought it was a waste of time. And I dont even like Ben Stiller but all the films he has been in appear to be good apart from this one!
