Surrogates is a pretty stupid movie. It presents some nice ideas for a sci-fi film but fails to go in depth into reasonings behind the use of the surrogates and why events in the film are taking place. Its convoluted and shaky and definately not the Bruce Willis Action film fans ...( read more)would be looking for.

This movie shares a theme with gamer what could go wrong and what can happen a coupleyears from nopw and it's not so crazy right!! and yes it was weird and cool at the same time it's a great thriller and a great casted movie !!

In the near future, humans live in isolation and ...( read more)only interact through robotic bodies that serve as surrogates. When several humans are murdered when their surrogates are destroyed, a cop (Bruce Willis) investigates the crimes through his own surrogate. After a near fatal encounter, the cop's surrogate is destroyed and forces him to bring his human form out of isolation and unravel a conspiracy behind the crimes.

The filmmaking trio behind the hit sci-fi sequel Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines re-team to explore a future in which humans live in isolation while only communicating with their fellow man through robots that serve as social surrogates and are better-looking versions of their human counterparts. Bruce Willis stars as an FBI agent who enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the murder of the genius college student who invented the surrogates. As the case grows more complicated, however, the withdrawn detective discovers that in order to actually catch the killer he will have to venture outside the safety of his own home for the first time in many years, and enlists the aid of another agent (Radha Mitchell) in tracking his target down. Jonathan Mostow directs co-screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato's adaptation of the graphic novel by author Robert Venditti and illustrator Brett Weldele.

People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates ? sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It?s an ideal world where crime, ...( read more )pain, fear and consequences don?t exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (BRUCE WILLIS) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

Worst Title. What is it about pregnant women? Interesting premise but completely unbelievable in anyway. Our society at large would never go in the direction of this technology. Bad pacing, dumb "murder mystery" that is obvious all the way through and sadly, the most embarresing ...( read more)performance of Ving Rhames career. I was semi-interested in this due to the Mostow/Willis combo. It was semi-alright. Pretty predictable. Although, Radha Mitchell does give me a, well, a semi.

Not the best futuristic depiction of humanity, but it did contain some elements of surprise... Otherwise it was moderately predictable and lacked any emotional attachment to charactors... they were surrogates? Not a bad movie, actually...we wanted to go see 9 but it was already far outta reach, so we settled for Willis and these clones. Intriguing story, albeit a bit predictable. Willis looks a bit odd with that toupee. LOL.

    review tbc, I'm sure.

After hearing some positive feedback from close people and not reading any critic reviews before watching, i started the film with optimism. It got going, and for a while i wasn't actually sure what was going on, but i like how it was explained bit by bit. Once i got an underst...( read more)anding of how people live their lives and what a surrogate was, i started to appreciate the story. I thought it was a pretty good plot and a nice change to the usual robot films. Dont get me wrong, its not original as many parts of the plot h ave been done before, its like a few films mashed together.

The effects are pretty decent and so i thought, was the acting. I didnt feel myself get too into the film but still, i enjoyed it.

Just dont expect too much from this film, like i did.

Really good movie, Bruce does another outstanding job.
  • November 22, 2009
Starts off ok, with the history of surrogacy, but never gets involving, then Willis utters his only good line, and a chase happens, then it gets boring again!
  • November 22, 2009
WOWIES! Definatly loved this, i mean Bruce willies has done it again. Great approched to the entire sci-fi genre and love the plot twist, the only reason why this movie isn't getting a full five is because i was still able to predict how it was to end.

Surrogates is simply a bad movie that is Hollywood's safest formula. Borrowing elements from all kinds of sci-fi movies and TV series - throwing a pursuit, a car chase, a last-minute rescue, and Bruce Willis in the lead into the mix...here is the new Hollywood overly medio...( read more)cre, money-consuming creation!
I'd like to say that I was paying attention to what was going on, but Willis' make-up and wig were too distracting. The vision (if there was such a thing) is lost soon, the performances are robotic (no pun intended), the soundtrack reduces instead of adding, and you end up being viewer to the same movie. My appreciation levels for Willis reduced a long time ago, and this movies doesn't help change that.
If you enjoyed in I, Robot or The Island or Minority Report or Watchmen - see it. It's a unfortunate mixture of those and many more.

it's pretty good, interesting story and good looking people are everywhere...
    overall, it's worth watching.

diz film show d ideal world... but 'ideal' doesn't mean it's perfect either. real-good moral story on emotions.... :)
  • November 20, 2009
not really good. It looks a lot like Gamer.
  • November 20, 2009
I like the plot of the story...there's a moral to the movie. The movie makes you think what it is to be human. Would you trade it for a machines?...

  • November 18, 2009
    A short, sort-of stupid sci-fi thriller that's a fraction better than the Shia/Smith stupidity of I, Robot.
What makes this movie watchable is the ending which was kind of surprising and awesome. Willis makes the best of an otherwise passable flick that tries to be really smart ...( read more)with twists.
I appreciated the brevity of it, but wouldn't have minded if it were a little longer.

I think this may be a rip off of GAMER or the other way around but this ones not as trippy as game.
  • November 17, 2009
Can't go wrong with Bruce WIllis... It is a good sci fi action movie, but has a few weak points... Kind of like a mixture of the Matrix, Terminator, and a comic book movie all wrapped up in one
  • November 16, 2009
bruce willis is always good actor..a good movie
  • November 15, 2009
Very perturbing message; nice idea... read between the lines.
  • November 15, 2009
A nice film to watch with the family in the theater on a Sunday afternoon.
    Some flaws but acceptable.
By the way, Bruce Willis has a power. He's capable of putting family members of different ages and cinematographic tastes agreeing with what to watch.
  • November 14, 2009
Standard, mindless action movie that one would expect from Jonathan Mostow. Could've been better if Bruce Willis didn't sleepwalk through his role.
  • November 13, 2009
I enjoyed this movie very much. I hope you don't miss the message.

A very original and fresh idea for a film done in a very standard and bland style.

But here we see many recycled and obvious ideas making the film seem like its catering to the lowest IQs in the audience.
