although this film has its cliche moments, it is far better than the normal run of the mill feel good sports movie. bullock and bates were both very good, and michael oher's story is a special one. the film was filmed especially well and most of the dialogue was compelling. a ...( read more)rare film among recent sports films in that i strongly recomend it.

Sure this is another in the "Heartwarming, Inspired by a true story" cannon of films that we get an unlimited supply of every year, but very few just work on just about every level like "THE BLIND SIDE" does.

    A huge suprise and delight.

Heartwwarming tale about a suburban Tenneessee couple who takes in a homeless teen and how they change each other's life for the better. Given that plot, you'd expect an overly saccharine TV movie style drama. However, the action is surprisingly restrained in its sentiment. T...( read more)rue, there is a certain organization to the script that seems overly pat. All of the lead characters seem almost too perfect to be real people. Yet this is a true story, one based on football player, Michael Oher, who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2009. Given that, the story take on a dramatic weight that makes the events genuinely touching. The compassion the Tuohy family demonstrates here, as well as the quiet integrity of Michael Oher, is admirable. Overall, a straightforward and honest film that is one of the best sports dramas in recent years.

I loved this movie on so many levels...The story is nothing short of amazing, and the performances were all top-notch.

I'm a Sandra Bullock fan, and she definitely breaks the traditional mold she's been cast into...While not a romantic comedy, she still pulls off some great comedic moments. Also, the moments between Leigh Anne and Michael are very touching and definitely were the best parts of the movie for me. Quinton Aaron, the football player, is also perfect for the role. I enjoyed seeing him change as the movie went on...

All in all, this is a movie that I'd recommend to anyone. It's a truly inspirational story and is easily one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Director John Lee Hancock's only aiming for a crowd pleaser, and by not challenging the established playbook for inspirational sports dramas, he's no doubt got one. full review

Armond White, The New York Press

All Bullock's films promote an edifying sense of human experience -- she has an instinct for what people like to see -- and that gift makes The Blind Side the perfect, God-sent antidote to Precious. full review

Saw movie tonite with Sandra Bullock in attendance - first audience to see the movie. Spoke to Director / ScreenWriter John Lee Hancock afterward, and he told me it was okay to talk about this movie - so, here is my rating - 5 star. However, I will provide no other comments until closer to the expected November 20th release date. It was, however, an uplifting story and an excellent movie. It got mostly excellent and very good ratings by the test crowd ! See it !
