great movie to watch with your 10-year-old cousin, perfectly predicting each next step of the movie just to see the look on his face

    the "mimi" scene rocks lol.

    nothing can beat the original
  • December 4, 2009
Not a remake as a reinterpretation of the original classic. They knew they just couldn't re-do the brilliant cheekiness of Collinson's '69 original. Basically aweful - you can live a happy comfortable life without ever having to view this. Avoid unless hospitalized!

Great plot for a movie and it keeps you guessing. The sequel will sure be one to watch.

Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

A tricked-out remake of a heist flick that was already flat and formulaic in 1969. full review

May 31, 2003
David Edelstein, Slate

A pandering, debased, generic little nothing of a movie. And I'm still trying to figure out why I loved it so inordinately. full review

May 30, 2003
Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

This is pure entertainment but smart entertainment, plotted and executed with invention and humor and acted by a winning cast radiating good-movie energy. full review

May 30, 2003
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

This is just the movie for two hours of mindless escapism on a relatively skilled professional level. full review

Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com

Small and steady, it wins the race with brains, not brawn. full review

May 29, 2003
Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer

The Italian Job zooms along with confidence, smarts, and some of the coolest car chases this side of the Indy 500. full review

Nick Schager, Slant Magazine

Like Norton's unbelievably dull villain, the film has about as much imagination as a Mini has trunk space. full review

This is one of the smoothest movies. It's was cool to see the one that thought he had it goin on, actually get out witted right in his face. In my opinion, "THEY DID THAT."

I too can't wait for the next one :D. Just got to love all the actors, they all have great characters and act so well and this movie it self is a nice action film with laughs :D. And deffinately has brains and there's no "far fetched" stuff meaning it's all realistic :).

FYI~~ The Brazilian Job MIGHT be coming out in 2009. They don't even have a script yet....

IF it does come out, I highly doubt it will be as The Italian Job (2001).

This film was MUCH better than the original Italian Job starring Micheal Caine and Noel Coward...
