I didn't really like this. It was pretty hokey.

People get too sentimental, re-watching this the other day I realised how awful it really is, although I?d convinced myself it was brilliant!

This is the best popcorn movie I've ever watched. It has to be one of the best vampire flicks to hit 80's screens. (Well actually I can think of others but this one tops them.) Some critics refer to it as just one big MTV music commercial with all the pop culture references and a...( read more)ll, but the soundtrack is the best feature of it. Kiefer Sutherland makes a fantastically sexy vampire and Jamie Gertz acts the best I've ever seen. Good to see some older pro's in for the ride as well (Dianne Wiest and Edward Herriman). I totally recommend this movie for a Friday night in.

An 80's vampire movie from Joel Schumacher. Time has not been kind to it. Has some moments, but really; the two Coreys??!!

This is the classic that made my love affair with vampire movies happen.
Kiefer Sutherland, as David and Jason Patrick, as Michael; tugged on many a girl's heart strings in this one.
I also really liked Jami Gertz, as Star. She's beautiful, her character had a cool name ...( read more)and wardrobe. Not to mention she does spell her name, the same way I do.

I'm going to do something different right now...
I recently watched 3 Vampire flicks, and they were excellent examples of THE GOOD (this movie, "The Lost Boys"), THE BAD ("Twilight 2 / The New Moon / The biggest pile of shit since Twilight 1 (whichever you prefer)), and THE UGLY ...( read more)("Bram Stoker's Dracula") of this genre.
So, before I get too ahead of myself and pat myself too hard on the back (I am eating gummy sweets right now, afterall, and there is no-one around to do the Heimlich if my ever-incompetent epiglottis acts up) for being super smart and witty and reviewing 3 movies, however unrelated, as if they were, I will get on with my review of THE GOOD:

A childhood favourite, which stars at least 4 of my favourite personalities of the 80s (Keifer Sutherland; BOTH of the Corey's (and double the Corey means double the awesomeness and fun); and Alex Winter aka Bill S Preston Esq), this movie is heaps of fun, packed full of HOT young adults, teaming with awesomely awesome and creepy creatures of the night (made all the more SCHWEET by great make-up, stunt-work, and special effects), and with a great soundtrack - one couldn't ask for more from a culty, late-80s, pseudo-tongueincheek and spoofy vampire flick :D

It's a classic 80s movie and is proof that Schumacher can make a decent movie when he wants to.
With the tons of 80s icons in this movie you think the acting could have been a tad better sometimes. The only real problem is Feldman and Newlander hamming it up and overacting in al...( read more)most all their scenes, and even then that adds some good humor to the movie, so it's not a big problem really. Yet once again, just like in STAND BY ME, Sutherland proves he's great at playing the cool bad teens and gives the best performance in the whole movie.
Story is decent and manages to be interesting throughout most of the film, with a few twists and humor thrown in here and there to keep you watching.
It's a good movie, but not great and I'll probably not watch it again since there are some much better films from the 80s. It's worth watching at keast once however so tune in if you get the chance to vamp out.

"We blew it, man, we lost it!"
    "Shut up!"
"We unraveled in the face of the enemy!"
"It's not our fault, they pulled a mind scramble on us. They opened their eyes and talked."

One of my favorite vampire films. I wish the vampire movies of today were this good (" Eat it Twilight!" - Sam Winchester.)
