An violent and overblown epic. Being that this movie comes from the director of "Air Force One" & "The Perfect Storm", you can't help but enjoy it.

The Iliad is one of the greatest stories ever written. This film wipes its arse with its pages. Eric Bana is the only reason this film gets a star from me.

I watched Troy again tonight, for about the 194th time. I love this movie!
Troy is based on Homer's great epic, The Iliad.
I really think that Wolfgang Petersen captured the story of Troy wonderfully in this film. The flow of this film is just beautiful. The characters are all ...( read more) -

''I'll tell you a secret. Something they don't teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be ...( read more)

Based on Homer's The Iliad, one of the most famous tale's ever told, Troy has all the usual Hollywood epic ingredients; an American hero with bulging biceps sporting an odd accent, a supporting cast of British character actors who routinely show him up (especially Peter O'Toole w...( read more)

Critic Reviews
Often plays like what it is: a clunky toga-and-sandals picture, with Hollywood compromises abounding. full review
As summer-movie entertainment, Troy delivers the Trojan horse, and then some. full review
The movie sidesteps the existence of the Greek gods, turns its heroes into action movie cliches and demonstrates that we're getting tired of computer-generated armies. full review
For a film that shows nothing but utter contempt for the stories it was born of, it is strange at how much the filmmakers require the viewer to be well versed in the history full review
This big, expensive, intermittently campy example of Hollywood Homerism is desperate to be regarded as a classic. It isn't, but it's not so bad either. full review
A gripping, well-told adaptation of one of the oldest human dramas. full review
Troy, besides being tremendously entertaining, is the best crib-sheet guide to Homer ever. full review
Wolfgang Peterson's Troy naturally subscribes to a no-shirt rule for ancient Greece's most prominent heroes. full review

April 6, 2009I like this movie, but Orlando Bloom character Paris was annoying. He deserved a worse faith than he got. I liked Brad Pitt character, Achilles and his romance with Briseis.

July 12, 2008It was a good movie and was full of action and very iteresting scenes.
But it was not as good as " The LORD Of The RINGS " or " TITAIC " but it was still up there.
its characters was very good, specially Brad Pitt and Eric Bana, Orlando Was A stupid in this movie , but he's a good actor specially in (LOTR).
And really I was confused w/ whome should I be ( Achelis or Paris and Hector )
The wars scenes was perfect and well done also Wolfgang Petesen was skilled and Great. -
June 15, 2008I Loved this movie! Despite what those dimwits said about Paris (Orlanda Bloom) being the cause of the war...Paris and Helen should have been allowed to be with whom they wanted!
