Away We Go Away We Go R
AWAY WE GO is a tender, sweet, and surprisingly funny addition to the genre. Verona De Tessant (Maya Rudolph, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE) is six months pregnant, but she and her boyfriend, Burt Farlander (John Krasinski, THE OFFICE), are not tied down to their current house in Colorado. A sense of adventure and the desire to find a place to call home propels the couple across North America, stopping in Arizona, Wisconsin, Montreal, and Miami, where they learn the how-to's (and how-not-to's) of parenting from friends and family.

I really liked this movie. Different take on a "road trip" movie. Liked all the different character's you meet along the way. Thought Maya Rudolph was great in this movie along with John Krasnski. Never seen Maya do anything other then SNL, so it was great to see her in a different setting. Just really has to deal with learning on what kind of parents they want to be and the do's and dont's that they learn from their friends and family along the way on their trip. Some of the stories along the way will make you laugh and others will make you cry. Very good film. Liked the humor and enjoyed the music this film had. Good watch.
Orphan Orphan R
Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, Isabelle Fuhrman

The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate and John, taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate?s fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther. Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there?s something wrong with Esther?this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be.

Really didn't know if I wanted to see this movie and have had it for awhile. But my sister told me if I was to watch it I wouldn't be disappointed as she had already seen it and loved it. So I watched it and to my surprise it wasn't bad at all. I thought all the hype it was getting was a little over the top, and those movies always end up being a flop. But it was good, wouldn't call it horror flick. A thriller yes, but not horror. The young actress playing Esther was really good. Very believable. The back ground story of Esther was really interesting and I liked that it actually showed the young girl doing the horrific things, then just having the camera turning away like they do in most films with kids. Good evil kid flick that won't disappoint. The only down point in this movie for me is the length. It's a little over the 2hr mark, and it was just a bit long for me.

Fireflies in the Garden Fireflies in the Garden R
Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe

Michael Taylor (Ryan Reynolds) is an author who has channeled his painful childhood memories into his novels. With some reluctance, he is flying home for his mother Lisa's (Julia Roberts) college graduation. After a lifetime of putting everyone else first, stroking her husband's (Willem Dafoe) massively insecure ego and raising her children in spite of that, it's Lisa's turn. What should be a moment of great celebration turns into a tragic reunion when Lisa is killed in a car accident, leaving father, son and family to pick up the pieces. While preparing for their mother's funeral, memories are relived and secrets are revealed which will test the family bond. After a childhood of hiding in his father's shadows, protected by his mother, Michael must confront his past and find an understanding of his family, his father and himself.

Love, Love, Loved this movie. The cast is amazing right down to the young children acting in it. Great performances by them all. It's a dark drama, and I am amazed it has taken me this long to see this movie since I am such a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds and Julia Roberts. The story goes back and forth from past to present and really does a great job at putting you in the story. It's an emotional roller coaster. Willem Dafoe was brilliant at playing the father, has to be his best performance in a movie that I have seen. It's just a beautifully made film. I will definitely be looking for this one on DVD.
